An accomplished engineer focused on the aerospace and automotive industries, Jim Cantrell has founded and worked with numerous organizations over the course of a career that has spanned more than three decades. He began his career as a research engineer with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he worked on satellite flight missions and Mars exploration technologies, including the Mars balloon. In the private sector, Jim Cantrell served on the founding teams of Moon Express which sought to land a vehicle on the moon’s surface, 7 other space and automotive startups and SpaceX, where he served as the first vice president of business development and helped to design the Falcon 1 launch vehicle. Today, Jim Cantrell serves as the co-founding CEO of Phantom Space in Tucson, Arizona. In addition to his work in the aerospace field, Mr. Cantrell is an experienced road racer who has participated in the 24 Hours of Daytona Classic and other events. He founded Vintage Exotics Competition Engineering in 2005 and has served as a board member and regional executive for the Sports Car Club of America since 2012.
